trying to do this months potm (rosetta) I see this host hanged and hanged again, trying to do 'their' charm. I thought 'thats strange the charms from docking work ok'. but I checked ,and though they don't hang my machine, there are many failing :-(

trying to do this months potm (rosetta) I see this host hanged and hanged again, trying to do 'their' charm. I thought 'thats strange the charms from docking work ok'. but I checked ,and though they don't hang my machine, there are many failing :-( It looks like it was working OK on Docking until it was upgraded to 5.9.x (the BOINC client itself, not the Docking application). I believe the 5.9.x BOINC clients are still unstable. If you go back to the 5.8.17 BOINC client software, then I think the Docking app might be able to run ok on it. I see that the machine only has 256 MB of Ram. IIRC, the last time I looked, recent rosetta WU were taking over 400 MB. I think Docking only allocates a VM size of < 150MB (half of which is never touched so never gets actual memory or swap assigned to it) and has a working set of < 70 MB. I think there's a good chance it will run Docking ok if you downgrade the BOINC client to version 5.8.17. Happy Crunching, -- David ____________ The views expressed are my own. I have also had many errors since upgrading my nix machine to 5.9.x. Maybe the next one will work.

256 funny what a new set of eyes can see, wiggle wiggle its back to the 512 i paid huge dollars for oh so so long ago :D
